Clobetasol

Skin, particularly the uppermost layer--the stratum corneum--presents a formidable, largely impassable barrier to the entry of most compounds. Recently, a novel thermolabile, low-residue foam vehicle, VersaFoam Connetics Corp, Palo Alto, Calif ; , has emerged that offers a number of clinical and cosmetic advantages for the delivery of therapeutic agents through the skin. Two corticosteroids--mid-potency betamethasone valerate and ultra-high-potency clobetasol propionate--are now available in this formulation, and other products are in development to deliver clindamycin and ketoconazole in the foam vehicle. A series of in vitro studies have demonstrated that the new foam has the ability to deliver the active drug at an increased rate compared with other vehicles. These findings suggest that the new foam utilizes a nontraditional ``rapid-permeation'' pathway for the delivery of drugs. It is likely that components within the foam probably the alcohols ; act as penetration enhancers, and reversibly alter the barrier properties of the outer stratum corneum, thus driving the delivered drug across the skin membrane via the intracellular route. This is in contrast to traditional topical delivery vehicles, which must first rely on hydration of the intercellular spaces in the stratum corneum to achieve drug delivery. The latter mechanism reflects a hydration-dependent process, which may result in comparatively slower drug permeation. J Acad Dermatol 2005; 53: S26-38. C. Under certain meteorological conditions de-icing and or anti-icing procedures may be ineffective in providing sufficient protection for continued operations. Examples of these conditions are freezing rain, ice pellets and hail, heavy snow, high wind velocity, fast dropping OAT or any time when freezing precipitation with high water content is present. No Holdover Time Guidelines exist for these conditions. d. Erly provide for the expanding services provided by Interior Health. The need for this direction is compounded by the "boomer" retirements that are anticipated to increase over the next 3 to 7 years. While the Senior Executive Team has determined these Key Initiatives, the only way for Interior Health to make a real, lasting difference in these areas is for all staff to keep them in mind as they manage and deliver care to their clients. Efficiencies and improvements rely greatly on the innovation and expertise of all the staff in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap and the rest of Interior Health we are open to your ideas and escitalopram. Early detection of signals of international drug safety problems is the most important task for the Uppsala Monitoring Centre. With over 3.1 million ADR reports in the WHO database Vigibase ; an automated procedure of identifying drug-ADR combinations for further assessment is a necessity. Since the fourth quarter of 1998 the UMC has been using the BCPNN `data-mining' methodology to produce quarterly line listings of drug-ADR combinations that stand out statistically from the background of all reports in the database so-called `associations'. First these are checked at the UMC for occurrence in the available product information literature. For drugs where the reaction is not found or not described well enough, case reports are retrieved from the WHO database. the UMC then sends the cases to the most appropriate expert in the review panel to assess the evidence for the reaction being related to the suspected drug using their clinical experience and pharmacological knowledge.

P-151S: TOXIC NORDITERPENOID ALKALOIDS IN LOW LARKSPURS DELPHINIUM NUTTALLIANUM AND D. ANDERSONII ; Dale R. Gardner, James A. Pfister USDA, ARS, Poisonous Plant Research Laboratory, 1150 E. 1400 N., Logan, UT 84341, USA Low larkspurs Delphinium nuttallianum and D. andersonii ; are toxic plants that are often fatally ingested by cattle on western U.S. rangelands. Plant samples collected from some key rangeland areas were analyzed using liquid chromatography mass spectrometry to provide understanding as to the toxic alkaloid content found in the various species and locations. The major toxic alkaloids found in the low larkspurs included methyllycaconitine, nudicauline, 14-deacetylnudicauline, and geyerline. Other toxic alkaloids detected included barbinine, 16deacetylgeyerline, grandiflorine, bearline, 14-acetylbearline and at least three new alkaloids, isomers of bearline 696A, 696B and 696C ; . Total toxic alkaloid concentrations ranged from 1.33 mg g d.w. ; to 7.50 mg g. A comparison of normal phase LC-APCI MS, reverse phase LC-ESI MS, and FT-IR methods for detection of toxic alkaloid will also be presented. P-152S: SECONDARY METABOLITES OF STACHYS THIRKEI C. Stachys species are mainly characterized by iridoids, flavonoid glycosides, phenylethanoid glycosides, essential oil and diterpenes. The genus is represented by 81 species in the flora of Turkey. In this study, a phytochemical investigation was realized on Stachys thirkei. Several chromatographic separations on the n-BuOH extract of the aerial parts of S. thirkei have resulted in the isolation of naringenin 7-O-- 3-p-coumaroyl ; -glucopyranoside 1 ; , apigenin 7-O-- 3-p-coumaroyl ; -glucopyranoside 2 ; , isoscutellarein 7-O-[6-O-acetyl--allopyranosyl- 1 2 ; -glucopyranoside 3 ; and verbascoside 4 ; .
